Raymond Baker is a loner at school. Everyone bullies him because of his talent. Raymond loves to write stories and sketch objects. He has a special gift, which is bringing his imagination to life. Kids pick on him and laugh at his illustrations. The jocks even rip his papers and scatter them on the floor. They scream in his face and tell him to get into sports and give up the fairytales. Everyone thinks he is uncanny and a loser.
Raymond tries his best to fit in, but everyone singles him out. The teachers also think he is unusual and not ordinary. Once two teachers were gossiping about Raymond’s sneakers because he can’t tie his shoes properly. Another time, Raymond introduced a story to an educator, and she told him that it was horrible, and he should quit writing stories. Many educators convince his parent’s that he may be a slow-learner and need extra help in particular classes. They assume that Raymond may be a little different than an average student.
Raymond doesn’t acknowledge everyone’s opinion and continues to write his stories. He ignores the outside world and lives in his imagination. Raymond is a unique person at his school.
Years later, Raymond’s teachers are having a Christmas party at a restaurant. Then, they turn their attention to the television. Raymond is in an advertisement commercial. They are impressed by what they see. Raymond Had become a scriptwriter and actor. He also produces television shows, movies, and business ads. The faculty is in shock that Raymond made it on the big screen. The principal mentions to his co-workers, “We need to tell him to come to speak about our school. So, it can be on the map.”
A week passes by, and the principal is trying to get a hold of Raymond. Raymond’s secretary answers the phone and tells him, “Raymond will not speak for your school, he is a busy man, he asks me to give you all a message, ‘thank you for your encouragement.'” She hangs up.
It is amusing when people discourage talent. People love you when you make it in the real world. As for Raymond, he became successful with his writing. He also became big shot in the television industry. When people laughed at Raymond, he remembered that one day he would smile right back.
